According to current studies, approximately 15 % of persons infected with the coronavirus are affected. What has proven to be helpful until now? How can the recovery process be supported?<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.6&#8243; width=&#8221;100%&#8221; width_tablet=&#8221;90%&#8221; width_phone=&#8221;90%&#8221; width_last_edited=&#8221;on|desktop&#8221; max_width=&#8221;800px&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.18.0&#8243; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>How is fatigue recognised?<\/h2>\n<p>There is a whole host of accompanying symptoms that encapsulate the syndrome. These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Limitation of physical but also emotional functions<\/li>\n<li>Concentration problems<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty finding words<\/li>\n<li>Premature exhaustion without significant prior exertion<\/li>\n<li>Shortness of breath occurring with minimal strain<\/li>\n<li>Negative effects on social relationships<\/li>\n<li>Sometimes even a loss of zest for life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both <strong>the body as well as the psyche<\/strong> are affected to a large extent by <strong>chronic fatigue<\/strong> syndrome. It arises suddenly and without warning, even when the person has not exerted themselves. This places a limit on quality of life.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.18.0&#8243; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>What helps to reduce fatigue?<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cJust resting\u201d and sleeping do not help. On the contrary, a combination of light <strong>strength and endurance exercises<\/strong> several times a week, under supervision, have proven to be helpful. However, a doctor must be consulted ahead of time as overexertion must be absolutely avoided in order to prevent a worsening of symptoms. Affected persons should increase the scope and intensity of the exercises slowly. Types of exercises that would be well suited for this purpose could be <strong>yoga, rehabilitation exercises, swimming, Nordic walking, biking and dancing<\/strong>. Professional counselling should also be considered as fatigue has a significant effect on both body and mind. <sup>3<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.18.0&#8243; background_color=&#8221;rgba(22,65,148,0.1)&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;2em||2em||true|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;1em|1em|1em|2em|true|false&#8221; border_width_left=&#8221;4px&#8221; border_color_left=&#8221;#164194&#8243; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]A dedicated therapy that specialises on fatigue does not exist, as fatigue is a symptom and not a distinct medical condition. Instead, numerous studies have demonstrated that light physical <strong>activity<\/strong> and <strong>respiratory exercises<\/strong> to improve breathing have a positive effect on affected persons.<br \/>\nA meta study of more than 56 individual studies, involving more than 4000 participants, demonstrated that physical activity had a positive effect on the person\u2019s general condition.<sup>4<\/sup>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/www.cegla.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Anzeige-RC-FIT_1200x680_Meer_en-1.jpg&#8221; alt=&#8221;buy at amazon&#8221; url=&#8221;https:\/\/amzn.to\/3DQpbzH&#8221; url_new_window=&#8221;on&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.18.0&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;2em||2em||true|false&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.25.2&#8243; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h2>Countering fatigue with proper breathing<\/h2>\n<p>In a study of 23 cancer patients in Japan, those patients who dedicated 10 minutes a day to a special breathing technique for the slowing and deepening of the respiration, suffered less from fatigue by the end of the study.<sup>5<\/sup> A similar study investigated the effect of physical activity combined with breathing exercises on 35 patients with fatigue: 30 minutes a day for six consecutive weeks. Fatigue symptoms decreased markedly among the trial group.<sup>6<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Even among <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cegla.de\/en\/copd\/\" title=\"COPD\">COPD<\/a> patients, the effects of relaxing breathing exercises had a noticeable effect on the previously-identified fatigue.<sup>7<\/sup> Overall, it was possible to ascertain that targeted, slowed-down and deepened abdominal breathing had a positive effect both mentally and physically. In this sense, one solution approach could be a combination of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cegla.de\/en\/products\/respiratory-therapy\/\" title=\"respiratory therapy and respiratory training\">respiratory therapy and respiratory training<\/a>. The respiratory muscles can be exercised when working against resistance. Light vibrations loosen any phlegm so they can be coughed out more easily.
