A curved tube (tracheal cannula) is inserted into the tracheostomy hole, and is directed toward the trachea and the lungs. The trachea is sealed by means of a cuff that is inflated against the larynx it. It thus offers protection from descending saliva and prevents air from escaping through the mouth or nose during respiration.[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.8.1″ background_color=”#f4f4f4″ custom_padding=”15px|20px|15px|30px|false|false” border_width_left=”3px” border_color_left=”rgba(0,0,0,0.4)” locked=”off”]

A tracheostomy should not be confused with a cricothyrotomy which is performed in emergency situations on patients with an acute risk of suffocation.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.0.11″][et_pb_image src=”https://www.cegla.de/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/tracheostomy-anatomy-en.jpg” alt=”Tracheostomy anatomy” show_in_lightbox=”on” _builder_version=”4.8.1″][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.4.2″ max_width=”900px” locked=”off”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.0.11″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.8.1″ locked=”off”]A tracheostomy reduces the warming, moistening, and filtering of air through the nose, mouth and throat, and may therefore cause shortness of breath and increased mucus formation in patients. In some situations it may be necessary to administer inhalable drugs to support the pulmonary function or to address the consistency of secretions. Several options are available for an optimal inhalation through the tracheostomy. Special tracheostomy masks or spacers including a tracheal cannula cap optimise the effect of the medication and prevent the leaking of inhalants (e.g., RC-Chamber® for tracheostomised patients).[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”2_5,3_5″ _builder_version=”4.4.2″ max_width=”900px” custom_margin=”30px||30px||false|false” custom_padding=”30px||30px||false|false” border_width_top=”1px” border_color_top=”rgba(0,0,0,0.25)” border_width_bottom=”1px” border_color_bottom=”rgba(0,0,0,0.25)” locked=”off”][et_pb_column type=”2_5″ _builder_version=”4.0.6″][et_pb_image src=”https://www.cegla.de/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/rc-chamber-tracheo_450.jpg” alt=”Inhalierhilfe RC-Chamber®” title_text=”Die Inhalierhilfe RC-Chamber® vereinfacht die Anwendung von Dosieraerosolen ” url=”@ET-DC@eyJkeW5hbWljIjp0cnVlLCJjb250ZW50IjoicG9zdF9saW5rX3VybF9wYWdlIiwic2V0dGluZ3MiOnsicG9zdF9pZCI6IjQxMjAifX0=@” _builder_version=”4.4.2″ _dynamic_attributes=”url” width=”85%” module_alignment=”center”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”3_5″ _builder_version=”4.0.11″ custom_padding=”1vw||||false|false”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.8.1″ text_font=”||||||||” text_text_color=”#164194″ header_2_text_align=”left” header_2_font_size=”32px” text_orientation=”center” custom_margin=”||5px||false|false” header_2_font_size_tablet=”36px” header_2_font_size_phone=”32px” header_2_font_size_last_edited=”on|phone” text_text_align=”center” locked=”off”]

RC-Chamber® for
tracheostomised patients

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.8.1″ text_font=”||||||||” max_width=”550px” custom_padding=”||||false|false” locked=”off”]Allows tracheostomised and weaning patients to receive inhalation therapy with metered-dose inhalers.[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”@ET-DC@eyJkeW5hbWljIjp0cnVlLCJjb250ZW50IjoicG9zdF9saW5rX3VybF9wYWdlIiwic2V0dGluZ3MiOnsicG9zdF9pZCI6IjQxMjAifX0=@” button_text=”product information” _builder_version=”4.8.1″ _dynamic_attributes=”button_url” custom_margin=”||20px||false|false” hover_enabled=”0″ locked=”off” button_text_color__hover_enabled=”on|hover” button_bg_color__hover_enabled=”on|desktop” button_text_size__hover_enabled=”off” button_border_width__hover_enabled=”off” button_border_radius__hover_enabled=”off” button_letter_spacing__hover_enabled=”off” button_border_color__hover_enabled=”off” sticky_enabled=”0″][/et_pb_button][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.4.2″ max_width=”900px” locked=”off”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.0.11″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.8.1″ locked=”off”]Efficient secretion management is the prerequisite for successful therapy of artificially ventilated patients.
